Description: The Powerhouse Discovery Centre: Collection Stores at Castle Hill is the publicly accessible storage and collection care facility for the Powerhouse Museum located on 2.8 hectares with six large buildings covering 13,000 square metres. Visitors may access the Display Store which houses thousands of objects including historic steam engines, cars, trams and planes as well as themed displays. Highlights include the Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch, the 1940's Harry's Cafe de Wheels pie van, the Mastertouch Piano Roll company collection, Sydney's first electric tram, landing gear from Sir Kingsford Smith's aircraft the Lady Southern Cross, objects related to the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a rare children's doll from the 1879 Sydney International Exhibition.
