Description: The oldest residence in central Parramatta. Built in 1821 and occupied by members and descendants of the Brown family from 1857 to 1949, three generations of medical practitioners. Situated in the grounds of Parramatta Hospital, Brislington was built by John Hodges, an emancipated convict, as a condition to receiving an inn licence from Governor Macquarie. It now houses a medical and nursing museum.
