Description: Centrelink provides payment to families with a Centrelink or Dept of Vet Affairs card to compensate for the use of home-based medical equipment powered by any carbon-based power source, including electricity, natural gas, liquid petroleum gas and diesel. The medical and disability-related equipment includes home dialysis machine, ventilator or respirator, a parenteral or enteral feeding device, oxygen concentrator, heart pump or suction pump, infant apnoea monitor prescribed by a medical practitioner, nebuliser if used daily, positive airways pressure device, phototherapy equipment, airbed vibrator, electric wheelchair, insulin pump. This payment is in addition to the existing Medical Energy Rebate (a state government-funded assistance scheme). Website has details and payment application forms for this and other payments. Applications can be made online or via an application form - all applications must be signed off by a medical practitioner.
