Description: Regular ongoing telephone-based groups via teleconference offer social and peer support, special interest and recreation activities for people who are blind or have low vision, socially isolated or live far from a Vision Australia centre. Available nationally. Only a landline or mobile phone is needed.The Australian Government determines the funding source, which can be NDIS or My Aged Care - Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Home Care Packages (HCP). Social CALD groups in many languages; many interest groups. A trained volunteer facilitates the discussion between up to 10 members for a one-hour session weekly, fortnightly, monthly. Regular programs all year except Special Interest Telelink during January and July. Anyone can refer.
