Description: Eryldene was designed for Professor EG and Mrs J Waterhouse in 1913 by architect William Hardy Wilson in the Colonial Revival style. The house, which retains significant interiors and furnishings, is complemented by a range of unusual outbuildings including a Chinoiserie tea house, the Professor's garden study and a pigeon house, as well as a small temple, within a series of garden rooms, the setting of the Professor's world-renowned collection of camellias. Eryldene Historic House and Garden is owned and cared for by an independent community Trust and receives no recurrent funding from any government or other organisation. The conservation and survival of Eryldene depends on the support of visitors, donors and benefactors to remain open for your enjoyment.
Volunteering: We are always in need of volunteers to help in the garden, at events, with house tours etc. There are a variety of ways that you can contribute to Eryldene and training is provided!
Disability facilities: Ramp to house interior. Access around Garden - please note that some paths are narrow and uneven.
