Description: In Western Australia elder abuse is defined as: "Any act which causes harm to an older person and occurs within an informal relationship of trust, such as family or friends". It is estimated that 12,500 older West Australians could be the victims of elder abuse. If you are experiencing abuse, or suspect that someone is being abused, help is available. The abuse may take many forms including financial, emotional, social, physical and sexual abuse and neglect. The Elder Abuse Helpline can give you the information you need to help protect yourself or others.
