Location: Frank Walford Park, 21 Gates Avenue, Katoomba 2780
Description: Before white settlement, the traditional owners of the Gully - the Gundungurra and Darug people - used the area as a summer camp. Following white settlement, many Aborigines were forced to settle in the Gully permanently. In the 1940s and 1950s, the indigenous community were forcibly removed and the area became an amusement park and then a racetrack. Today The Gully is recognised as an Aboriginal Place. As well as the disused 2 kilometre racetrack, there is a boardwalk that includes information boards that document the history of the area.
