Description: Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACAVVS) is a government scheme that funds community organisations to organise volunteer visits to provide friendship and companionship to older people. Catholic Healthcare is a community organisation that recruits, trains and supports volunteers for the ACAVVS in the Blue Mountains and Penrith areas. Volunteering involves a one-hour visit once per fortnight to provide friendship to someone who is lonely or isolated and living in a nursing home in the Blue Mountains or Penrith areas.
