Location: Ground floor, 414 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills 2010

Description: New South Wales based health promotion organisation specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) health. ACON also has a Needle and Syringe Program and a range of other alcohol and other drugs services that offer support, counselling, information and referral services for LGBTI people and their communities. We have expanded our Needle and Syringe Program to include the dispensing of Naloxone (Narcan) which is an opioid overdose reversal medication. We also conduct DBS (Dry Blood Spot) testing, for Hepatitis C and HIV. This involves a simple finger prick and the samples will be sent away for testing, with the client being advised by text if the sample is negative, or a phone call from one of the nurse specialists at St Vincent's Hospital if the results are positive. This will be followed up by a referral to KRC for treatment.
