Description: A university-based, non-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government's Department of Social Services (DoSS) and Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), a part of the NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS). This is an information service which collates, reviews and creates the evidence base for best practice in modification of the home environment to support people with problems in self care, participation and autonomy. It publishes evidence-based literature reviews, occasional papers, summary bulletins and fact sheets, drawing on research about how particular built environments (i.e. products, materials and services) impact human autonomy and well-being outcomes. Provides support to practitioners through its General, Industry and Occupational Therapist (OT) forums and OT mailing list. Contributes to the development and implementation of evidence led government policy with respect to older people and to younger people with disability and their carers.
