Description: The Opal card is a free smartcard ticket that you keep and reuse. You only need to get an Opal card once, and then you load value onto the card to pay for travel on all public transport in Sydney, Newcastle; and the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter and Illawarra. The Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal fares are capped at $2.50 a day*, if you only take a short bus or train trip and donít reach the $2.50 cap, then youíll pay less. With Opal you can travel on the following services: All Sydney Trains; All NSW TrainLink Intercity services; All Sydney Ferries and the Stockton Ferry in Newcastle; All buses in Sydney, Newcastle; and the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter and Illawarra; All light rail * Excluding Sydney Airport Station Access Fee Must have your NSW Seniors, Pensioner Concession or NSW War Widows card handy to confirm your eligibility.
