Description: Seniors Rights Service is a state-wide community organisation supporting older people with free and confidential legal advice, aged care advocacy, social work support and education forums throughout NSW. Service provided over the phone. However there are aged care advocates located in a number of regional centres. Education forums focus on abuse prevention and planning for later life. Requests can be made for an event for your community that is tailored to local needs. Focus is on reaching many sectors of the population such as older people who are vulnerable or disadvantaged; in regional, rural and remote locations; culturally and linguistically diverse; Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; LGBTIQ+. Advice includes consumer rights, human rights/ elder abuse, financial exploitation such as scams or issues with family members, planning for later life. Legal issues that they can help with include Retirement Village issues, Strata living issues, Granny Flat issues and a number of other legal services. Aged care advocacy can include informing clients of their rights regarding their aged care provider and other issues. If we unable to help, referral is available to other suitable organisations.
