Description: An independent, non-profit legal and policy centre. PIAC makes strategic interventions in public interest matters to foster a fair, just and democratic society and to empower citizens, consumers and communities. Projects include: The Homeless Persons' Legal Service provides free legal assistance to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Energy and Water Consumers' Advocacy Program works to ensure all NSW households have access to affordable and sustainable energy and water services. PIAC is working to improve outcomes under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for people with disability. Asylum Seeker Health Rights Project aims to secure humane standards of medical and mental health care for asylum seekers.
