Description: Elizabeth Farm contains part of the oldest European building in Australia and is among the nation's most important historical sites. Standing on Darug land traditionally maintained by the Burramattagal, Wangal and Wategora groups, the farmhouse was commenced in 1793 and was home to the Macarthur family until 1850. After this time it was used for various functions including a glue factory, boarding house, business school and dentist. It was acquired by the NSW State Government in 1979 and after restoration transferred to the Historic House Trust in 1983. A fully "hands-on" museum, visitors are given access to all areas, objects and furniture.
