Description: The Parramatta and District Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1913 and is NSW's second oldest. The Society's aim is to encourage the study of history and heritage of both Parramatta district and Australia and to promote the compilation of authentic records relating to the Parramatta district. The Society leases Hambledon Cottage from the City of Parramatta Council and opens the Cottage for public exhibitions. Also facilitates the Family History Group. Monthly meetings with Guest Speakers are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (excluding January & December) at 7.30pm - see website for location & topic. Hambledon Cottage open Sat-Sun at 11am, last tour 3pm (groups on other days by appointment) During COVID check website or send email to ensure cottage will be open. Research facilities at Hambledon Cottage Coach House on Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm (subject to any COVID restrictions).
